HISTORY

Runa's parents were born in Thalmor-controlled Valenwood. When
they were young they started to try to raise an uprising against
the Thalmor. They kept their plans and recruiting as secret as they
could, but they must have told someone they should not have
trusted. The Thalmor got wind of the rebellion and started to
round up and execute anyone who was involved. Runa's parents
escaped, fled to Skyrim, changed their names, and settled in
Falkreath. The trees in southern Skyrim reminded them of home.
They led as plain and nondescript lives as they could for many
years, causing no trouble and trying to upset no one. When they
were finally convinced that, since the Thalmor had not found them
yet, they probably never would, they had a child: Runa. They told
her nothing of their past for fear of endangering her, and she
grew up excruciatingly bored by the simple, dreary lives of her
parents and the other inhabitants of Falkreath, and rebelled
against the mundanity sometimes.
One day in a fit of boredom, she left the house in search of some
adventure or another. She got lost in the forest for a while and
had some fun exploring, and when she returned after dark, her
parents were gone. At first she thought they must have gone
looking for her, but as she exited the house to look for them, a
family friend caught her and told her her parents had been taken
by the Thalmor. "Run," he said. "The Thalmor will come for you,
too."
Having been raised in the company of Nords, Runa had grown up
hearing about how awful the Thalmor were, and Runa was
scared. She fled to the forest and lived there for several days
before she admitted that she could not survive in the wild. She
went to Whiterun, where she took up thieving. With almost no
money, she slept on the ledges surrounding the town. She picked
people's pockets whenever she could and broke into houses for
valuables. She was very good. She got caught and arrested a
couple of times, but jail wasn't so bad. Just boring. The things she
stole she hid well in a box that she stashed in the stream
beneath the bridge, and sold them only when she needed food
and warm clothes so as not to draw attention to herself. Soon
she had enough to buy a bow, so she did, and practiced almost
constantly until she was good enough to leave the safety of the
city's walls.
That was one year ago. Since then she has been wandering
Skyrim freely, except for Falkreath. She misses the trees, but she
can't go back there.

APPEARANCE

Although Runa has been getting stronger since she's been
outside the walls of Whiterun, she is still short (5'4"), slight (110
lbs) and rather lacking in muscle tone. She has an air about her
that makes her look bigger than she is and her heavy armor helps
to hide her petite stance as well. Her eyes are the dark red of
overripe snowberries.

SOCIAL

Runa is generally quiet and introverted; she rarely starts
conversations with strangers, and if they start one with her, it will
be quite one-sided. She has a hostile, contemptuous, aggressive
air, but she's all bark and no bite. Call her out on her attitude and
she will back off while trying to save face.
Of course, her defensiveness results in her not having many
friends. Since she had to flee from her home she has been afraid
of making any. Anyone could rat her out to the Thalmor. When
she's with someone she trusts she's still pretty aggressive and
prefers to be in charge, but she's more relaxed and amicable.
She's very loyal and will go to great lengths to protect her friends.
